U.S. News evaluated more than 15,000 nursing homes nationwide to come up with the slightly more then 2,000 included in the list of Best Nursing Homes. Millions of Americans will spend at least some time in a nursing home this year, noted Brian Kelly, editor and chief content officer of U.S. News.
“Finding a nursing home that meets an individual’s specific needs can be challenging for families,” Kelly said in a release. “Our nursing home ratings are designed to help potential residents and their loved ones navigate this difficult process.”
The methodology for the U.S. News “Best Nursing Home” designation relies on data from Nursing Home Compare at the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Factors included overall performance ratings, as well as ratings for key services over the 12 months ending in October 2016.
